Welcome to Biscayne Bay Fishing Charters

The closest inshore fishing grounds to the Miami charter fishing and Homestead area would be Biscayne Bay.  It is actually a lagoon that is about 35 miles long and 8 miles wide.  The fishing is productive in Biscayne Bay all year long and is home to some of the Largest Bonefish in the entire world. They average about 8 pounds and have been caught up to 15 pounds.  These massive Bonefish require intense focus, a sharp eye, and above average casting skills to be able to hook one.  When hooked they scream off nearly 100 yards of line before they ever think about slowing down.  During the Spring and Summer months Biscayne Bay is also great for Permit and Tarpon Fishing.  All of these fish are targeted using 10-20 lb. spinning rods or 8-12 weight fly rods.

What can I expect while fishing in Biscayne Bay?

While traveling across Biscayne Bay you can expect to see crystal clear water illuminating over the shallow flats. These shallow flats are the feeding grounds for Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon.  During certain parts of the tides these fish can often be seen with their tails sticking out of the water.  We refer to this situation as "tailing fish" and is a great treat for any flats fishing angler to experience.  However, we will warn you that fish in ultra clear shallow water can be tricky to catch.  Anglers have to be very quiet not to spook fish and present casts not too close to alarm them of any danger.  Fishing in Biscayne Bay is NOT like fishing in the Bahama's.  We get many anglers that tell us they caught multiple bonefish over seas.  Well, honestly their fish are just not as smart as ours.  We have educated species that when caught will give you the fight of a lifetime.  Just because that guy on television made it look so easy doesn't meet it didn't take him 3 days of footage to get that 30 seconds of footage.  If you show up with realitic expectations you should have a great time fishing with us.

Is the fishing in Biscayne Bay really that good?

Well this is a fairly common question.  South Florida has some of the largest Bonefish in the entire world. Our average bonefish is 8 pounds and have been caught up to 15 pounds!  Our permit fishing during the warmer months is very good with the average fish around 10 pounds and can be caught nearing the 50 pound range.  Our Tarpon Fishing can be done all year long and range from 1-200 pounds! Just remember Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon are all considered valuable gamefish and are Catch And Release Only.  So this means that they are very educated so bring your best fishing skills with you on your trip.

What if I just want to go fishing and catch fish?

Well don't worry we can accommodate you guys as well.  Biscayne Bay is also home to many other species that are easier to catch.  We have Snapper, Grouper, Trout, Jacks, Ladyfish, and Sharks.

Fishing in Biscayne Bay can be a great place to just get away for a half day or Sunset Trip with the wife or children to make up for that lost time.  It is a short commute from anywhere in the Miami / Ft. Lauderdale area.

Biscayne Bay Fishing - 8 Lb. Bonefish

Here is a nice Bonefish caught while fishing in Biscayne Bay.  This fish is the average size bonefish that we generally find here in South Florida which is about 8 lbs.  Biscayne Bay Fishing grounds are home to some of the largest Bonefish in the entire world, nearly double the size found in the Bahama's.  Bonefish can be caught year round and generally eat live shrimp, crabs, and even fly fishing flies that imitate these baits.  Any angler with patients, a keen eye, and a good accurate cast can hook into these drag screaming fish.  But you must remember to be very stealthy because they are ultra spooky.  This is why when trying to catch a bonefish we only recommend fishing with a max total of the people on board the boat. (2 Angler + Guide)  This makes our boats get into shallow water and also manuver quite a bit easier when having to chase down fish.  Biscayne Bay Fishing Charters offers some of the very best guides around with lots of patients for all skill levels.  If you would like to enquire about any of our Biscayne Bay Fishing Guides don't hesitate to contact us.  We would be more than happy to help you catch your first or 90th bonefish here in Biscayne Bay.
Here you can see a typical Tarpon caught while fishing in Biscayne Bay during Tarpon Season.  Our annual migration of Tarpon happens during March-June and the fish are generally 60-200 lbs in size.  These fish can be targeted using light tackle spin, and even flyfishing gear.  All you need is a lot of determination and a good Biscayne Bay Fishing Guide to put you on these fish. If you can't get down here during Tarpon Season don't worry because we have Tarpon here in South Florida all year long.  Just contact any of our Biscayne Bay Fishing Guides to find out how we can hook you up on a fish of a lifetime!
